Pony of the month - April 2009
He lives with the herd on the Isle of Eriskay in the breeds native habitat. He has a lovely nature and his distinctive facial pattern makes him so magnificent.

This photo shows their very first meeting on the Isle of Eriskay. Her owner sat down aside from the herd and Siubhal was the one who came to say hello ;) That was the decider !

This is a new fella, who's owner just joined FRIENDS OF THE ERISKAY PONIES. His name is Swift and he lives in England. He really cute! He is a 100% gelding and he has some Exmoor friends who graze with him in his nature reserve.

Pony of the Month - January 2009
Sobhrag is a young mare. She was born on the Isle of Eriskay but is now on the Isle of Barra. Sobhrag is gaelic and means Primrose (a flower) in english. Sobhrag is a really sweet pony and just started going out with us on a leadrein. She loves travelling about with us on trails. She has had a child on her back and was as good as gold. Sometimes she will nibble the childrens jacket hoods and pull them towards her, as if saying "well get on will you, and I will give you a ride".
Pony of the Month - December 2008
Coinneach. He was born on the Isle of Barra and then went to live on the Isle of Skye for a while. He is now back on the Isle of Barra and loves being with his friends here. What a super pony. He loves people and is very willing to learn. He likes to give you a nudge if you aren't paying him enough attention. He is a really good looking pony and boxes like a dream. He is in training at the moment.
Pony of the Month - November 2008
Cathal is one of the Eriskay Stallions. He was born on the Isle of Barra and is currently on the Isle of Barra. He is a distinguished gentleman and is the sweetest, most well mannered stallion that we have ever met. He is gentle and loving and is 20 years old.
Pony of the Month - October 2008
Reul is the Alpha mare of one of the three herds on the Isle of Eriskay. She is a friendly mare who is full of character. In this picture she lay down to relax and groom herself quietly on the hill. This was the very first time we had met the herd/s on the Isle of Eriskay Hill. Here they roam free, happy and healthy in a natural way. Each herd has a dominant or alpha mare and some herds are bigger than others. Reul's herd consisted of 3 other ponies, her daughter and two geldings.

Pony of the Month - August 2008
This is Shadow, an Eriskay Pony, we met in August 2008.
He belongs to the Isle of Barra Beach Hotel and is a super pony.
He was born on the Isle of Eriskay and came to Barra in approx. 2007.
We have been lucky enough to have trained him and he is super responsive, very intelligent and so affectionate.
He actually gallops to meet us! Its a wonderful thundering greeting.
